Tuesday 5th April
What a big day today was. Today started with a dolphin snorkel leaving from Ko Olina at 6.30. Left a little late and traffic was bad so we were late. Made it but only just. We boarded the catamaran after a very quick breakfast and safety briefing and motored out from the harbour. Our first stop was a small reef where we snorkeled and saw thousands of beautiful fish. It was an artificial reef created on the pipeline coming from the power plant. We then went on the hunt for dolphins. It took a while to find a pod but when we did we got in the water. Then they disappeared. I did manage to see them but they were a long way down. Back on the boat looking for more dolphins. We saw plenty from the boat, right up close and spinning and showing off. Making them stay long enough to jump in was difficult. The next jump in only Gary went in and saw them a lot closer up. Two lots swan right past him. The captain then saw a turtle which we steered Gary towards and he was so close they nearly bumped into each other. Very awesome. He used an underwater camera, I hope the photos work. After driving back into the port past the The Black Pearl, the ship that was used in Pirates of the Carribean we had a light lunch and left.
That night we had to go back to Ko Olina for the Luau. After coming back to the condo for a shower we drove back out to the Waileke outlet centre. More shopping.
The Luau was fantastic. After finding our table we could wander around and look at the various activities they had to do. Alex and I made bracelets with frangipanis and orchids, headbands and lei's. There were hula demonstrations, tree climbing for coconuts and spear throwing. Lots of things to see. The Luau was great and the food yummy too. Big day very tiring, early night.
