Well I finally got here after what turned out to be an absolutely epic series of flights. After an 11 hour flight to Colombo, Sri Lanka, I had to wait for 5 hours in the airport, then to board a plane which went to Singapore via Kuala Lumpur, waiting in Kuala Lumpur for an hour. Having watched 4 movies on the way to Colombo I was a little bored of film and found precious else to do for the remainder of the journey. You feel ridiculous having been on the plane and in airports for so long. The recycled air really gives you this dull nauseating pain and sitting down for so long gives you numb bum cheeks. However, enough of that! Actually getting here and stepping off the plane, you realise it was well worth it. The whole of Singapore is green and every highway is lined with mature avenues of trees and flowering shrubs. It's amazing when you first get here and see it, and quickly helps you forget the nasty plane journey. I got a taxi from the airport to the hostel, which was inexpensive and most importantly air-conditioned. They announced to us s we landed it was 33 degrees outside, and the monsoon season was starting; still, it's raining less than in dear old England.
I only just got to the hostel, which I found online and booked it based on it's impeccable ratings. It's called "Rucksack Inn". I would thoroughly recommend it. It's clean, well presented and friendly, which is all you need. Going to head out now and have a look round central Singapore. Catch up with you later!
