Visited winery, near Rada with our Irish friends. Wines have been made in the winery for years for their own consumption but only recently cleared it to focus on wines for commercial use. Still do a few olive trees but one olive produces just one drop of olive, so loads of olives and work needed to produce olive oil!
Very kid friendly intimate tour with just the two families. kids stuck their heads in the huge vats which gave then a big laugh. Lunch, as part of tour, was in the grand mansion. Kids had a fab time! Felt very special being personally waited on, then went and played in the gorgeous grounds while the four of us continued to sample the various red wines. Nothing like antipasta followed by pasta, a main course and desert! Serious holiday time for us!
Later in the afternoon, we all had a swim at cathy's and then homecooked dinner at our place, just us. Lots of veggies, was pining for them!
Chianti wines have only been made commercially since the 2nd world war.
