Today we had breakfast at 7:30, put our bags on the coach and went for a walking tour around Florence. We went and saw a massive cathedral called the Duomo, went to see the statue of David in the Signoria square (which translates to Square of the gods), and a bridge across the river that now houses a bunch of beautiful jewelry shops.
We then saw a leather demonstration in town which was quite interesting. They showed us how they made some of their products and how to spot fake from real leather.
After that we had some free time. Hayden, Scott, Christine, Tess, Aleisha and I went and had lunch at a restaurant down the road. The food was fantastic and the wine is always good.
Us girls then took off to do a bit of shopping while the guys did their thing. We ended up in quite a few leather shops that sold handbags and wallets and also clothing stores which are quite cheap here. We also spoilt ourselves with a large serving of gelato before we had to go.
We met back up at the Duomo where we got back on the coach and made the three hour trip to Rome.
Once we made it to Rome we went straight for another walking tour, stopping off to see places such as the Spanish Steps (136 steps), the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the Colloseum. We also got to see ancient Roma and I'm thinking about going to see the inside of the Colloseum tomorrow. Then we had pizza and more gelato for dinner.
After that we caught the metro to our camp in Rome where we are staying in really nice bungalows. Went to the pub at the camp where they were serving buckets for 15 Euro. I polished off one of them and then went to bed at roughly 1:30am.
