Had the best sleep in since this trip began today with breakfast starting at 9am and the coach leaving at 9:45am. It was definitely needed after last night.
The coach took us in to the train station and we got a train into Venice. This train was pretty fun because it travels over the city instead of through it and is designed more like a ski lift in the way the chairs face and the amount of room you have.
The train got us there where Phil took us for a walking tour around the city and then we watched a lace making demonstration.
The city of Venice is very different to what I'm used to. The streets have pathways but the rest of the road is made up of canals. There are some places where they have full paved squares but most of the streets are just full of water. The bell tower that is attached to the church is falling over because the water is eating at the foundations. They say the city is slowly decaying which is a shame because it is so beautiful.
After that we headed to the dock where Christine, Aliesha, Tess and I went for a gondola ride around the streets.
Venice has no cars, so it's really quiet and peaceful here. It's probably been one of my favourite places on this trip.
After the gondola ride we did a bit of shopping, got something to eat and made our way to the ferry station.
These boat stations are floating platforms in the water and they're a lot like train stations but with small passenger boats that take you to the different islands and around Venice.
We got on the ferry to Murano where we visited the glass factory and had a bit of a look around the place. Then we headed back to the mainland to catch a taxi back to camp.
Caught up on some washing, went for a dip in the pool and then had a bit of a chance to chill out before dinner.
Dinner was chicken with salad, potatoes and then ice cream for desert.
I headed back to my room after hearing about an unfortunate story from home so the girls helped me get some Wi-Fi to contact my family before we got some drinks and had a girly night at Aleisha's room. I got my hair done and then we trekked round the back to play some drinking games with the rest of the crew.
Had a good night and managed to make it back to bed by 12:45am.
