Costa rica.
We arrived early early in Costa Rica and the ship was able to pull right into port so no tender ship needed. The town we docked in is called Punt-arenas and it has really nice volcanic sand beaches. We took a tour inland to the Costa Rican Rain forest (not the Amazon) and went on a zip line adventure around the tree tops.
They said you needed to be fit and healthy to take part in this tour....we were slightly shocked to see that everyone else on the little minibus was really very old and quite unstable on their feet. When it came to it, they all did really well... it wasn't difficult at all...no real climbing involved, not like GO APE in England. One couple got a bit dehydrated but considering it was 88 degrees and 40% humidity....not bad at all. It was good fun...we probably would not do it again because it was a bit tame and there was a lot of waiting around for people to catch up....but it was worth it to see the rain forests. We also saw some crocodiles in the water opposite one of the zip wires....i got some good video which I will upload once back in England.
The tour was only half a day so we got back to the coast in very good time to go to the market and wander around the town of Puntarenas. Again...incredibly hot. The breeze from the sea was not enough! It was very strange to see Christmas decorations hanging up when it is so so hot...hard to believe it is Christmas soon!
little little had fun today too...she got hit over the head by a man with a metal scanner as we were coming back onto the ship. He did it playfully...but she was less than impressed.
Pool time now! need to go and cool down a bit. Tomorrow....day at sea then it is onward to the Panama Canal!
