Today we drove the short distance to Mataranka.
After setting up camp (and doing a couple of loads of washing after having no external power and water for 3 days) we walked down to the Bitter Springs Thermal Pools - less than a km from our park. Here numerous subterranean springs pour more than 30 million litres of warm water into the Roper River each day. A great way to sooth the body as we floated about 100m down stream in 32 degrees of natural water.
Baz and Jack then tried their hand at a little fishing in the river. Whilst we were happy not to see any of the freshwater crocs, we didn't land any fish either. Good chance for Jack to practice his casting and retreival techniques with soft plastics though.
Whilst we were relaxing after dinner we were lucky enough to have a local guest after a feed - a (not so) wild wallaby wich also loved a pat.
A neighbours dog Pepe was also very restrained and not showing any interest.
