Yesterday, we arranged with Robyn to meet her at Manly harbor the following day around 11 am. So on the 4th of July we started out at the Central Station (again) where we collected the missing vouchers which Marie-Louise accidentally found out should have been with the backpacker railway passes. Oh boy those passes give us trouble, but in the end it doesn't really matter because the Aussies are so kind and helpful - so no worries!
Afterwards, we took the free bus (555) to Sydney harbor. So far there are at least three great things about Aussie: people are kind, there are free circle lines in the cities and the public restrooms are free, clean, and plentiful. It makes us tourists happy! On our way from the bus stop to the ferry we found our new favorite coffee shop. It's small, situated on Bridge St., and the people behind the counter looks Italian. Actually we think it's mom, dad, and daughter - but we don't dare ask. Bridge St. is the posh business area, so when we were there at 10 am the shop was full of people in suits - we didn't fit in…
The trip with the ferry from Sydney to Manly went smooth and was very beautiful. We had a great time at Manly with Robyn shouting for whales, eating fish n' chips, and walking along the beach to the Seashell beach.
In the evening we walked along George St. to the club Ivy which had been recommended to us by more than one friend. It was a fashionable place with multiple floors and an atrium from where you could see the dark night sky filled with sparkling stars. There were heaters to keep us warm and beautiful light twisted between tall trees to light up the place.
