July 18
Not only has Evelyn hostet us for a lot of days, today she even picked us up and drove us all the way to Surfers Paradise. We stopped on the way to enjoy the look outs before meeting Kane and Waffles at their, Nikki and Aprils charming house. The house is located in the middle of all the tall hotels and apartment complexes just around the corner from Tedder Avenue.
Soon after arrival we were all changed into swimsuits and bikini and heading for the beach. Wow, what a beach! Nina and Marie-Louise went in and had a good time in the 19 degrees Celsius waves. Afterwards, we all walked along the beach to Surfers. Here we went shopping in the main street.
Back at the house Nikki returned from work and together with Kane we went to harbor where we met up with April and her boyfriend for some good and cheap fish and chips.

April has been so kind as to let us have her room while we are staying in Surfers. That means she is staying with her boyfriend. So to have a change to meet and talk Nikki and us joined her in an early start with coffee on the beach.
When the girls had to go to work we headed for the waves (this time all of us). To repeat the day before we walked to Surfers along the beach, went shopping, and ate. On the way back we walked along the river and spotted a family so obviously Scandinavian that we had to sneak up and listen to their conversation - and BINGO they were Swedish!
In the evening we decided to try something new - to watch a movie in 3D. The choice was Harry Potter to Rebekka's delight. The experience was good, the movie could have been better. This time the book was really better.
On the way back from the cinema Nikki showed us a special place on the river bank. From a platform reaching into the river we could not only see the stars but also gigantic fish in the water. Some looked like dinosaurs while others look more present dayish. What they all had in common was the fact that they were made out of light! Somehow, a projector on a pillar on the platform was able to create the vision of fish swimming deep in the water. It was nearly more magically than Harry Potter ;)

We got up early today as well to have breakfast with Nikki and April at a favorite place on Tedder Avenue. Afterwards, we went back, packed our stuff and began our journey from Surfers Paradise to Brissie (also known as Brisbane).
It all went smooth and after a bit of map-looking we found the hostel. On the way we passed Queen Street Mall where a Zumba show was on. The hostel was so much better than the one in Byron. Actually, it turned out to be a VIP hostel.
To our delight it turned out that Brissie like Sydney and Melbourne too has a free transportation: the city loop. A bus that took us all around inner Brisbane - that is efficient sight seeing.

Evelyn Rich Farewell my Danish Girls. I hope you enjoyed our country as much as we enjoyed having you here. It was so delightful to have you all staying with us. Good luck on the next sector of your Round the World Trip. Lots of love and happy trails Ev and Alan
