Ok so Greensboro was a white out, YAY for a white Christmas but thank GOODNESS Kim and I took precedence and took the first bid outta there (we so cleverly got Benjamin my "Ohio frenemy" to come with us). It was a two day journey in my lil red aeroplane. I definitely experienced REAL mountain waves this time, the type that even full power and pitch you cant climb at all, you just continue to decend into the misty pointain range until the effect reverses itself and balloons you so high you could kill the engine and the stupid thing will still fly. First fuel stop was in Nashville, my planes officially the slowest of the bunch so as soon as I landed, everyone else was packing up to make the next leg. That particular flight was amazing. God painted me a sun set over the Mississippi River and all I did was literally let my mind wander in the clouds and I day dreamed of home. No one slept that night at our next fuel stop in Little Rock. We were so exhausted yet we just wanted to get to our destination. We were all up the next day before our alarms even went off.
Our departure out of Little Rock and onto Oklahoma City was, how do you say, stomach turning, blood pumping, heart jumping out of your throat intense! Ice! Ice on the wings of a Cessna is NOT a good situation to be in. none the less I survived it, climbed through it and popped out ontop of those beautiful deadly clouds. Gorgeous? Yes! Tiring? Yes! That flight was what pilots call "actual" instrument flying. I basically stared at my instruments for three hours trying not to let the illusions of leaning form side to side get to me since I had NO horizon to reference straight and level flight to. A hop skip and a jump later into Amarillo Texas was finally complete. The landing was amazing with yet another painting of a Texan sunset this time around. The haze and eerie stillness broke the colors up into such fine tuned layers of color. I loved it.
Im in love with our world. Not the fast paced materialistic "people" world, Im in love with the sun, moon, water, colors, rocks, zephyrs, weather, my GOD do we live in such a gorgeous world! Speaking of, PALO DURO CANYON! LOOK AT MY PHOTOS! I though Michigan was lovely, I thought Hawaii, florida, Porter Rico, Antigua, New York, I thought all of these places were beautiful, NO! This canyon brought tears to my eyes! Peoples minds cannot grasp the hugeness, of life, this canyon is 113 miles long and full of sooooo much life and beauty. The first day we went, we merely hiked 3 miles and couldn't take it all in, we had to go back.
The following day we were ground due to the winds, we Hiked almost 6 miles on foot and every turn was something new. I saw tumble weeds! Real ones! And yes they look just like the ones in the cartoons hehe! And Prairie dogs! And long hords, horses, every single sign in texas is TALL and bright like Vegas (ive never been to vegas but one can assume so much) Texas is too much for me. And now we are already headed to our next destination to the east coast of texas on the border of Louisiana, Longview.
Anyway, fast stay in Amarillo, but ringing in the new year with my crew was very fun, and interesting. Lots of Mexicans, and dancing J we met a young guy at the club and the joke of the current trip is his name! He asked me to dinner which I totally turned down cuz I cant stop laughing at the fact that we cannot pronounce his name!! haha we asked him at least a million times that night what it was its spelled "Joquin" any guess? Notta clue! Ha! So the crew and I refer to him as the following: Alejandro, Fernando, Paco, rodriques. Please don't think we are being insensitive, we were just trying not to feel so horrible for not being able to pronounce it. The rest of this entry im going to make a separate blog cuz its more than just my adventure… read on my loved one!
