We are offically moved into our house!
Our host family, the Nixsons, are wonderful. We were welcomed very warmly by the whole family right at the front door! John and Anne are the parents, John is a social worker and Anne teaches at a vocational college. Charley (Charlotte) is 16 and in 11th grade. Jessie (Jessica) is nearly 11 and is in 5th grade ( i think- they do it a bit differently here). There is a third daughter, Sophie- she is 21, done with school and living with her husband (they got married in July) in a town about 2 hours away. We may or may not meet her. They are lovely people and we have already become quite close. Jessie is attached to us already, she never wants to leave our room.
Speaking of our room, its pretty fantastic. The walls are green and blue, as well as our beds. We have a decent sized wardrobe (closet), a desk, bookshelf and night stand between our beds. A little on the stranger side is the shower and sink/medicine cabnit in our room! We are going to have to work out a shower schedule so we don't walk in on each other, but other than that, its kinda cool. I will put up pictures of the house and our family soon.
Today we had orientation for the programme. Mostly we got talked at, but we also took a bit of a walk around the neighborhood the centre is in. We got to see Virginia Wolf's house and the BBC building, as well as good places to get lunch or whatever. Tomorrow we take a boat tour down the Thames and sepnd a few hours at the Tower of London, so prepare yourself for LOTS of pictures. We also get our class syllabi and meet our professors. Wednesday we hit the British Museum and Thursday classes offically begin.
