Have arrived safely in Sydney and very aware of how behind on my blog I am. Been so busy. The East Coast tour has now ended and I am getting ready for next leg, New Zealand.
Since the cattle station it has been all go. Spend two nights on Fraser Island just off of Rainbow beach. This is a truely amazing island. Completely formed of silica sand. The beach is beautiful but the sea too dangerous to swim in or even paddle for that matter due to sharks and jelly fish. Infact the Seventy Five Mile beach is used as and is indeed listed as a highway. 4 x4 vehicles are constantly driving up and down. We were in a 40 seater 4 x 4 bus which tanked along the beach overtaking all other 4 x4's. It was such an amazing place that I took a scenic flight over the island to get a better perspective of it. We took a walk to the highest point Indian Point, so called because Cook saw over 300 Aboriginies watching him sailing in and assumed they were Indians. We could see 7 tiger shark patrolling the coast line in the beautiful clear waters. In the afternoon we swam at Lake MacKenzie, which had no bitting fish - makes a change! We also visited Lake Wabby, Eli Creek, and the Maheno Wreck. Stayed in a decent bed that night too!
