Alison's Travels
How quickly time has passed this week! It has been a short, but busy week at school. All the students in my classes have watched my video about Westlake Academy and at the end many of them said they wished they went to our school. They really liked seeing the school gym because Northlands does not have one. They also liked the laptops and dining room. The kids here noticed that many Westlake students had a "picnic" lunch, meaning a lunch brought from home. I went to a shopping mall on Wednesday and bought a few things. When I return to school on May 15th, I will have a surprise for all the third grade students!
Today, the year one students have left to go on an all day camping outing so I will be visiting year three and hopefully kindergarten. Next week I may have the opportunity to visit two other schools in the area.
This upcoming weekend will be my last in Buenos Aires and I plan on being busy! I am going to do some shopping downtown at Galleria Pacifico and might do a tour of the famous theater here, Teatro Colon. Some teachers here are planning on a possible Tango night so I might join in that too. Many of you know I am the most uncoordinated person and have no rhythm, so it might be an interesting experience! On Monday I will post the updates.
I hope that everyone in my class has passed their 12's on the multiplication quizzes and is understanding fractions and division. You just finished one of my favorite books, My Father's Dragon and I know you will be working extra hard on your projects. You will have to catch me up on sooo much when I return and I can't wait to see how the new unit of inquiry on pollution is going.
I know that it is an exciting half day at Westlake today. I hope Megan has a very happy birthday and everyone enjoys the Bandana Bonanza tonight!
I am ALWAYS thinking about my students, friends, and family. Three weeks may be a short period of time, but I miss ya'll so much.
