The National Optimist dinghy championships are taking place this Easter
weekend, but competitors from Aus and French was also heard. Very wholesome young people with very keen looking parents. They all paraded through the town this evening. Plus 1600 cruise ship visitors also arrived today on a P&O ship some of them didn’t look quiet so wholesome as Mamgu might have noticed and said.
We talked to a local lady who was tending her lovely garden and she was in a flower lady group that gives every cruise ship visitor a button hole of spray roses from their gardens as a welcome, with 55,000 cruise ship visitors this year I’m surprised there are still flowers in the gardens of Picton!
Our dinner tonight was a bargain as they got our main meal order wrong and with the sailors etc it was busy to bursting so we happily eat our second choice for free.
All set for an early start to make the bus to Christchurch tomorrow, when for a day we can pretend we are backpackers, nice historic B&B booked for tomorrow night prior to taxi taking us to pick up the motor home on Saturday morning. Must say the motor home people have been outstanding in their customer service just hope the vehicle is just as good.
