Awoke to a glorious morning after yesterday’s downpour. Told by the locals that the waterfalls we’d seen yesterday only last two hours or so and sure enough this morning they’d pretty much all gone - we were very fortunate to have seen Milford in all it’s wet glory yesterday and in it’s sunny glory this morning. Out on the water first thing as we had a site on the only camper van site at Milford, plots effectively in the rain forest. We did a couple of side walks on route that left us very wet so curled up with our books in the afternoon and treated ourselves to a lovely meal in the only restaurant. In the morning a quick coffee and we went aboard the “Spirit of Milford”. Named by a Welshman from Newport Pembs.....Milford Sound that is not the boat! Mr Gronw was a sealer st Ann’s head , Dale and Llawareny all feature with a Pembroke Glacier. It was wet and cloudy in Doubtful Sound so it was special to see the blue sky.
After lunch we said goodbye to the sound and enjoyed the return trip in sun.
We reprovisioned with fuel, food and wine in Te Anau and got to just past Queenstown when we decided that was far enough. Freedom camping effectively in a car park over looking a Gorge where bungee jumping started, don’t think we will hang about tomorrow to try it out !

Mary Edwards Was that Hacket Bridge? If so; we know exactly where you are. It’s beautiful there. Andrew and I walked out onto it but there was no one around that day!!!!!! Thank god. X
