sorry for the late update, i've been flat out as per usual.
so i think last time i updated was last thursday. on the fridaywe went to the opel factory. it cool seeing the cars being made and the old car museum also. after this 9 of the crew and me headed to prague via car. car hire was really cheap, and because there was ten of us the traveling cost was low so i thought it would be worth it as well as getting to drive on the autobahn.
didn't get to drive on the autobahn on the way there, but still got to see the magnificant scenery. i forgot to mention earlier from the scenery going to amsterdam too, but in primary school you learn that when it rains the water runs down the mountains to create a river, in perth you don't really see this, ut over here you can see it really well. the mountains can be so steep sometimes, and on the way to amsterdam tere were so many steep mountain faces and somehow vineyeards were being grown on these steep mountains.
anyway, also on the way there you can really see where the airport waslocated in prague, i've heard that it's really quite small and that planes must become almost vertical to land there. there atmosphere here creates a sort of white smoke to come out of the back of the plane when it's buring fuel before land and when travelling to prague you could see from the lines in the sky where it was located and the routes the planes took to land/take off, it was quite a sight.
the hostel we stayed in at prague was great, i had a pool, suana, pub, volleyball, ping pong, pool table and all for only 12 euro a night! prague at first, and where we stayed look quite run down, like an abandoned neighbourhood, with lots of graffetti and what look lik boring looking emptybuildings, but once you got into town, aswell as visiting old prague, it quite amazing. the scenery of cathedrals and old buildings was spectacular, it was much more gothic than what i had seen before. around where the old town hall was was something else. there was a market, horse and carridges, filled with people and the astronomical clock was just that, astronomical. we had some italian food around there which was quite nice, bit oily for my tastes, but still good. we head over charles bridge, and the statues and scenery was surreal, i'm still today taking in a digesting everything i saw on and around the bridge. it took you into old prague which today you could imagine what it was like in medieval times with the bridge leading to the large gate and seeing in the foreground prague castle on top of the hill. the weather was shocking, but i thought the gloomy day suited the mood of the area with how gothic it seemed, but i can imagine it would look its greatest in the middle of winter with snow.
we got some hot drinks from a place in old prague where downstairs it was as if the place had been under water, with coral gorwing of the walls and some peculiar art. we then headed up to prague castle on top of the hill. once up there the view was undescribable, i had to take a video or else i'd have taken thousands of photos. just the architecture around prague castle was amazing (i'm trying my best to mix up the adjectives here), but prague castle was something else. the gargoyles around it were scary yet amazing, just walking around it (aswell as the streets of old prague too) even the man hole covers were made with so much attention to detail. inside prague castle the organ was being played and that with the sights within prague castle has made that visit number one so far.
the night life in prague was also a stand out, we went to (supposedly)the largest club in europe with it having 5 levels. it had aot of cool stuff like falling mist with projections on it, amazing lights/lasers/crazy stuff, but quite touristy and i doubt there were any locals there.
one the way back we visited nuremburg, which was surprsingly spectacular too. it had about 3 MASSIVE curches within about 1km of eachother, and quite nice tower on the mountian over looking it which provided great views. what i noticed most was that the old building in the area still had bullet holes in them from WW2. this was a very surreal experience because you could see that behind a window in what now is macdonalds 60 years ago a soldier was being shot at and being able to touch this was crazy.
on the way back i got to drive on the autobahn in a ford focus station wagon filled with 5 people. travelling now at 100km/h seems like snails pace! it was very hard driving a manual with your right hand on the right side of the car on the right side of the road. even by the end of the trip a still wasn't used to it.i wasn't too bad apart from drifting into the right hand lane next to me now and then. what i was most concerned about was that germans don't use their indicators, and i learnt to be cautious of this the hard way. on the autobahn my top speed was JUST under 200, probably about 198-199. it was quite scary going at this speed and having to fight against the wind (which becomes quite strong when your travelling at 199km.h) and being fearful of not running into the solid concrete wall about 3 metres to your left. i would have made it to 200km/h if it wasn't for a car cutting out in front of me, i had to quickly step on the brakes,i didn't want to slam on them because i'd loose control, but even trying to avoid this i still got big speed wobbles. the rest of te crew following us thought we were done for, but being the awesome driver i am, i got myself and the other 4 out of the situation in one piece.
this weeks been mainly about work, the exam is on tomorrow and we had a group assessment of a business simulation. the business simulation i thought was great. we were put into teams of 5-6 and had to run a photocopier machine company funnily enough, the teamwith the highest share price wins. due to everyone in our team having no normal PC and only macs we couldn't actually use the computer program to predict our results in the first (out of 5) period and we had a loss, but so did the other teams which we were competing against. in the second period we finally had a computer to predict our profit etc. but do to not selling stock and overinvestment we made a small loss but were almost bankrupt due to a misunderstanding or share price whent from being $100 at the begining to $14. however we went from last place with the share price to in the end coming 4th with a share price of $215 and got 80%
sorry for the crappy spelling and grammer, but i have no time to proof read this, i'm sure you get the idea. i have no credit atm and wont be buying any because it burns up quickly here, i got 15 euros worth the other day and somehow it was all spent within a couple of days, so you'll have to call me.
happy 82nd birthday to papa for the tuesday, lauren called me that day and i told her to somehow get the message onto you to call me, don't know if it got to you.
also i'm 6 hours behind and i'm at uni from 9-5, dads called me alot but it's been around 10am all the time and i can't answer those calls, i also told lauren to pass this on last time she called.
