Antoinette Hildebrandt's Travels
Today was our last full day in Florence and it was museum day! We went to the Ufuzzi Gallery and were done in 1 1/2 hours so we went next door to the Galileo Museum which was the most interesting museum of the day. It was full of historical scientific instruments; clocks, telescopes, microscopes, globes, surveying and medical equipment.
After lunch in one of the many random squares you come across in Florence, we went to the Galleria Academia where Michelangelo's David resides. Then we went to the Leonardo DaVinci museum. When we got out we were surprised to find it was only 1pm so we made our way across the Ponte Vecchio to the Palazzo Piti - the Medici's "new" palace, after which we declared we had finally had enough of naked statues, paintings of women with wardrobe malfunctions and pictures of the Virgin Mary. We headed back to our apartment for gelato and pizza and to pack our bags for our trip to Rome tomorrow.
On a lighter note, how do you manage to get around the very narrow streets of Florence? You take a "mini bus!" There are even mini garbage trucks!
