My voice is a little bit better today but still I can't talk too much - I guess that wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the teaching ;-) The very first thing I whispered in the morning was if anybody knew how to check data cards - and of course they did - they checked it on the Internet and told me that the SIM card didn't work and that I needed a new one. Early this morning Karma Dorji had left for Thimphu together with the principle, Sangay Dorji. They will return to Chumey either tomorrow night or the day after. So one of the master trainers will ask Karma Dorji to buy a new SIM card in Thimphu and bring it here. Crossing our fingers that we'll be able to access the Internet from our hotel then :-)
This morning was incredible when it came to electronic equipment! The energies must be really strange here in the Himalayas ;-) At first the projector didn't work - the screen was completely red when I tried to connect my computer. A few master trainers played around with it for 10 - 20 minutes but we ended up trying another computer which seemed to be ok - strange. Then one of the participants' computers didn't work on the Internet even though it had worked ok yesterday, while another one, which didn't work yesterday, worked today! And after lunch the projector worked well with my computer - hmm? What is happening? The wireless Internet is not quite stable at the school - when we get the thunderstorms in the afternoon the Internet will normally disappear so all morning it is a fight to get things uploaded, answer mails etc. and teach at the same time ;-)
Leaving the school in the afternoon Aksel and I saw a young girl carrying buckets of water into the main building. I am sure those buckets were for the toilets because they don't flush. It is a bit strange that they educate plumbers here at this school but still there isn't any water neither in the taps nor in the toilets. We always have to pour water from a bucket into the toilets and dip our hands in the bucket after having used the toilets. I asked Aksel to fix the problem but he didn't think it would be all that easy ;-)
On Thursday it was VERY cold - no sun but cloudy and rain most of the day. Indoors it was freezing cold and at lunch time I couldn't feel my feet any more.
Right after lunch I quickly invented a "walk-and-talk" assignment so we could get out and get some warmth for half an hour - at that time the sun had come out. The master trainers loved the idea of taking a walk after lunch instead of sitting on their chairs getting sleepy! And I must say they worked very well today with problem based learning. They understood the concept well and presented some really nice projects to be carried out at their schools.
Before going back to the hotel at 5 pm we heard news from the Thimphu people - they will return tonight around midnight so it is very exciting if we get a new SIM card tomorrow and might get online in the evenings and weekends!
My health is improving day by day :-)

Dutch Hi Jaclyn, thanks for your message! Namgay surripses me every day. You have to read my book before you go! I am so excited about your trip. It's going to be amazing! Have you read So Close to Heaven by Barbara Crossette? It's got a nice section about Bhutan. I haven't read another book besides it and Jamie Zeppa's Beyond the Earth and Sky that do such a nice job of evoking Bhutan. There's one coming out called Blossom Rain by someone who went on the Snowman Trek-- the most difficulty trek in the world-- across Bhutan. I think he did it more than once, which is crazy wonderful. It also comes out in April. Cumberland Gallery will have my book launch in Nashville on April 7th from 5 - 8pm-- also paintings by Namgay. Please come and definitely bring Doc and Deb. And lets get together before you leave!
