Got up at 9.30 in our new guest house Titanic! We have complimentary breakfast but we didn't want it!
I needed to change my Kip to Dong but apparently hardly anywhere changes Kip in Hanoi! That is an understatement.
You would think being a capital city and being neighbouring countries with Laos that they would change there currency anywhere but they don't! I went into about 5 different recommended places all recommended the next place. I had two maps, got given 2 more drawn maps and all sorts of directions! Finally the only place that let me was a jewellery store. Obviously.
We then went on a hunt for a sim card. This was also very difficult! They sell them in crevis of the strewts, every other shop down every street, all stalls, food stalls, shops and restaurants but nowhere sold micro sim which is what we need.
Went back to ask the receptionist at our guest house and he said you could get any sim card then cut it smaller to fit in our phones. There is no chance I am chopping up a prepaid sim card and shoving it in my beautiful phone. No way.
Went for a walk again to try and find one and ended up in the apple store! (which had del computers with apple stickers over the sign). The guy was really nice and after getting the translation website out on his 'mac computer' he understood that we didn't want calls or texts we only wanted 3G Internet.
He said the only way was to cut the sim card and they had cutters there. He sold us two sim cards with 3G for 50000 dong (£3.12)!! Done! Sold! Next!
We went to a coffee shop for lunch before we headed home! Ordered 'sunny bread' hoping it would be something to do with eggs and I was correct! Yey!!
It feels so good to have 3G!! I will never take it for granted ever again! The wifi everywhere is slower then watching paint dry and we never get anything done! Plus I need to do a lot of internet surfing while in Vietnam as I still havnt decided what to do with my life. I'm thinking fruit picking in Australia sounds good though! But it's complicated.
Went back to the room! We thought exchanging money and getting a sim would take an hour, not four so we couldn't really do much!
Went to look for a massage parlour as our necks and backs still hurt from the sleeper bus and we havnt had one since Thailand! But they were to expensive! The cheapest was about £13.
Went downstairs to get a second towel, met a German girl called Celine and we arranged to meet her tomorrow for sight seeing! The receptionist had to call a friend to get a towel and it took 40 minutes to come! Are these people knitting it! Just give me any form of fibre! We were real patient about it though.
Got ready and went out at about 9.30. We knew the street we wanted to be on but when we got there it didn't seem to have anything on. Got lost for about an hour till we found the actual street. Went to GC bar!
Met a couple of people (no idea of there names) and after a few drinks we hopped on there mopeds and drove to 'Hair of the Dog' club.
I have longed to dance for weeks. No where in Laos had dancing, well it had bobbing your head up and down but it's not good enough. So I ran straight for the dance floor! No messing around! Michael followed with a bucket, he is well trained!
The police came at 1. The staff had already emptied the downstairs dance floor to make it seem like the club was empty and apparently they do this every night. They turned the music off upstairs, we all waited around for 10 minutes till the turned the music back on!
After this one of the friends we met in GC bar owns a bar and invited us to a lock in. SOLD!!! His bar is called 'Mao's Bar' it's really nice! Real oriental about life!
At about 3 me and Michael set off walking home, I don't know how we made it as we got there on mopeds but we found our way back to the lake and we know our way from there!
Stopped at a noodle stall! Noodle soup is even more amazing when you have had a drink! Lush! We told the lady it's the best we have had in Asia. She just smiled! Bless her! See you tomorrow cutie!
Got back to the guest house the same time as two other guys did who stay there. The receptionist didn't let us in for half an hour!! After knocking, shouting, picking the lock and praying he finally let us in!
Michael then got to the room and sicked his guts up! He does not know his limit!
