We have been in Ban Phe, well a couple of miles away from the town center, for 2 days now. Our hotel is nice, rooms are big, free wifi and the hosts are very nice and friendly, 2 dutch guys.The beach area is nice, although they do need to tidy it up a little and empty the bins around here. It's quiet and not very touristy, everyone on the beach is Thai, i think we are the only westerners around here, but I suppose this is travelling, off the beaten track.

Today (Tuesday) we experienced our first bit of rain. We were caught in a very very heavy rain shower and had to duck under a beach brolly for 30 minutes, it was so heavy you couldn't see out to sea.

The food is lovely and sooo cheap, maybe because it caters for Thai's and not the usual tourist market. Both evening meals with drinks, cost £3. I think my dinner last night was 80p, how can they do it that cheap?

We are staying here for 5 nights, we depart on Friday to head off back to Bangkok to catch our overnight sleeper train to Chiang Mai.
