After breakfast we left our homestay and headed to a floating market, then on to see how rice paper and pop rice/corn is made. Back on the bus we stopped to visit a Cao Dai temple ( a mix of all good things about religion) and arrived back before lunchtime. An afternoon in an internet cafe was followed by a very expensive and not great meal in Lemongrass. Later that evening we went to Apocalypse Now which was a fun club, apart from all the old men on the lookout!! Chips at the Allez Boo Bar followed and taking the piss out of Darren because he found himself a lady boy!!
I woke 4 hours later and went to breakfast ( I did not want to miss it because it was free) before going back to bed.
I awoke again to learn of the tragic news that Charlie-Pa (my Grand-dad) passed away peacefully on January 3. I am so saddened by the news and felt I should have been at home with my family but that would be the last thing Charlie Pa would have wanted.
To console myself I went shopping and bought a Rauph Lauren polo shirt and Docker shorts (supposedly authentic) for $13. Today was also when the Vietnam tour ended and the Cambodia tour started. We met the new tour members and said goodbye to the others. Charlie and Helen came drinking that evening which was an appropriate way to say goodbye!
