School Report for Boys Cycling Tour Spain/France 2016
Alan (APL): Alan is a bright cheerful and popular boy. Alan likes these trips and is a veteran of the longer form of rides. Alan has a tendency sometimes to be too silly, and sometimes his jokes can be misunderstood by the other boys. I am sure Alan will continue with cycle rides in France, although he has past history of lone cycling and he now has new friends and may prefer them to his old school friends.
Jon (JPS): Jon is an intelligent, organised and very capable boy, he is popular with the other boys. Jon is a regular member of these trips, he is expert at the medium distance and has shown great promise this week with the longer rides. Jon struggles with complicated tasks such as folding paper. He can only fold paper into squares to insert in his map holder. Jon needs to work hard at other paper folding techniques. I hope that Jon continues with these bike rides to France in the future.
David (DH): David is a boy who has many positive qualities, he is reliable, sociable and honest. David is a regular member of these trips, he has excelled at the medium distance and tries very hard at the long distance. David is excellent with money but in the future he may need to be a little more generous, for example with tips for service staff. I am certain that David will continue with these rides in the future and as he has acknowledged he may need to train harder for next year's ride.
AB, cycling holiday teacher.
I shall be asking my parents to contest the school report issued above.
Silly is a highly inappropriate word for my intelligent insights into the daily life of my companions.
I shall be appealing the the Headmaster.
Report A. Bowden
Andy is a liar , a thief , and smells really bad too . His clothes don't fit and he walks funny. He has bad hair and has trouble staying upright , with or without alcohol. He does not get involved in group navigation activity and lacks enthusiasm for route planning. Overall this year has been poor for him and he really needs to pull his socks up if he is to receive an invitation next year. That will teach you to call me silly. Pah!!
Nough said.
APL Head of silliness and observational criticism.
With the toughest day over (84 miles for the service crew DH/JPS and 82 miles for the 'A' team AB/AL) we are all relaxed and demob happy that we don't have to do that mileage again until next years Tour de France. Al needs to reconsider his choice of tires for next year. Tires designed for use in a velodrome are not suitable for a tour down a tow path. Six punctures in a few miles must be a world record. DH
For 'B' Team read 'Bail out the A Team' Team, but we don't want to labour the fact that David and rode 16 extra miles, swam across the river, scaled the ramparts of the local cycle store, liberated 3 new inner tubes, and returned to our beleaguered colleague who was sat weeping by the roadside ... that'll teach him to use condoms for tyres, and to choose proper bike tyres, preferably of the puncture resistant variety ... Haha! Only joking Al!
Serious now; a great ride today, tough as we expected but we managed it, and we can all look forward to an easy 45 mile 'tootle' tomorrow.
Now, as far as my 'report' is concerned ... I will try my best to improve my origami on future trips ... JPS
