Yesterday's blog got a little silly, Alan hacked into the night, Jon responded (oh dear) David and I happy in our ignorance. We have cycled today from our hotel in a busy industrial estate in Nantes sixty odd miles to Vannes, having lunch (meal deal "formules") on the way, just over the Brittany border. Just waiting to walk out for evening grub, praying that there are no more fashion faux pas's, some chance. AB.
I apologise for any distress caused to my travelling companions yesterday but safari trousers belong on safari and cool trendy cut off cycling hot pants belong on cycling tours. Indisputable!!
An uninteresting ride today unfortunately but hopes are high for Brittany over the next 3 days.
Sadly, Andy had another tumble today , probably contributed to by me but I think it is time for a 3 wheeler.
Mrs Andy, you need to sit him down and quietly explain that his 2 wheeled career is over . J & D are currently down the road at a local bike shop having some stabilisers fitted to the trusty Viking.
A sad time that we all must face eventually but if you keep falling off then something needs to be done. It will save on bandages in the long run.
Jon was upset yesterday that we " used " him for navigation only, so this morning we let him stay at the front for 12 miles. Aaaaw, you should have seen his little face.
The little trooper did so well out there on his own.
Dave continues to cover the rear and it is a little surprising that his recent weight loss has not led to a proportionate increase in speed. We will hide the nut cutlets and soya milk tonight and treat him to a Big Mac meal and a 20 piece Kentucky family bucket. He will be flying tomorrow.
Looking forward to a more scenic ride tomorrow. APL
How we did not get wet today is totally amazing. We were certain this morning that we would be totally drenched. Someone must be looking down on us other than our wives. Looking forward to tomorrow's ride, only 40 odd miles, so we will have time to stop and look at stuff on the way, unlike the past 5 days. Al likes to keep moving all the time for some reason. Jon doing an excellent job navigating again today with input from Al. With Me and Andy only providing moral support on the navigation front.

70 miles was the eventual total mileage for the day, ... the terrain was kind to us but the wind could have been nicer ...
I have commented today that the scenery on this western route up through France has not been as pleasant and interesting as previous trips ... today we spent 90% of the journey cycling on roads alongside a motorway ... enough said!
Still, we are now in Brittany, and tomorrow's journey looks more promising, ... and anyway, the company, food and banter have been as good as ever, so what does it matter!! JPS
