Hello everyone!
We had a very busy day yesterday, and I never got around to blogging. :-)
Yesterday was all around a perfect day! We got up early to make sure that we got to the lifts as soon as they opened. We got dressed in the room and then took advantage of that ski valet downstairs... so crazy! Haha we just aren't used to it.... our boots were all warmed up for us, and our boards were ready to go. We walked to the main lift and got on it as soon as it started rolling!
We knew that we wanted to hit the hardest terrain they had open. We were so excited that they had the back bowls open, and that's right where we were headed. It had snowed overnight, and there were about 4-5 fresh inches of powder everywhere. Yay!
We finally made our way up to the top of the revelation bowl, which you can see in the photos I posted yesterday. We have never seen views like that..ever! Wow! We started early in the morning, and were literally ABOVE all the clouds sitting over the town of Telluride. Incredible.
Our first run of the day was a double black diamond expert run called "Millions." We literally laid the first tracks on the entire run.. untouched... so fun!! We spent the next few hours working our way through the revelation bowl... there was powder, moguls, lots of steep runs and even some cliffs.
After going HARD for a few hours, we stopped and had lunch at Crazy Elk Pizza.. a fun pizza/beer joint at the bottom of the mountain. We managed to take out a big salad and a large pizza.. we were starving! After lunch, we decided to make our way over to the left side of the mountain where some more black runs were open.
We rode all the way across the mountain and made our way down to a lift that starts on Oak St in the middle of the town of Telluride.. (Thats a 15 minute ride on the gondola from the mountain village... quite a distance from where we started in the morning!) We took that lift up to the top and boarded down a very very long, steep run called "mammoth" that was COVERED in large moguls. Once we had finished that run we decided our bodies had had about enough... we took the Gondola back to the mountan village :)
All in all, it was the best day of snowboarding we have had in a long time. We rode four about 5 total hours- and all of the runs involved some serious work. We were exhausted! We headed back to the hotel and took advantage of a couple of cups of free hot cocoa and cider down at the ski valet... not going to lie, we love it ;-)
When we got back to our room, there was a wonderful little surprise waiting for us! My amazing grandparents called the hotel and asked that a bottle of wine be sent up to our room. We had two wine glasses, a bottle of wine, an opener and a card that read "Happy honeymoon! Love, gram and gramp" waiting for us. How sweet!! :-)
We spent the next few hours watching the AMAZING Bronco game, got changed and then headed down to dinner in our hotel.
There's a fancy fancy little place in our hotel that has INCREDIBLE views. We didn't expect dinner to cost so much, but it was delicious. I had yummy chipotle chicken and a glass of wine, Joey had yummy pork chops and we shared an amazing peanut butter-chocolate mousse for dessert.
We decided last night that we would sleep in today and just relax. We are in PAIN. I am amazed that my joints have held out this long! We slept in today, and it was very nice..
we got up and made our way down to our very own little coffee shop in the hotel. We walked around the village for a bit and then decided to have lunch at the Tomboy Tavern. Great little bar with yummy apps and a small menu... but an extensive beer list (with good microbrews!) for only 3$.
We haven't had a chance to take advantage of the pool area yet because it closes early... so that's what we are planning on doing now! The pool area is amazing... there are three hot tubs, a large pool with a slide, numerous steam rooms, a sauna, a HUGE lap pool and one of the best workout facilities i've seen in a hotel.
We haven't decided where we are headed for dinner tonight.. to be determined ;-)
We might take tomorrow off and go ice skating, and hit the slopes again on Weds, but we aren't sure yet. Also to be determined!
Having a great time.. love you all.

Mama Sounds like you had an amazing time!!! I hurt just thinking about it! Don't know how you could walk after that but hope you hit some good hot tub time!!
Grandfather & Grandmother What beautiful pics!! Just think, there are people in this U.S.A. ( and the rest of the world) who have no idea what we have here in Colo. Fantastic! It appears that a day of rest is in order after your big day on the slopes on Sun. Hope you enjoyed the wine, you obviously are enjoying the dining. Wish we were there as we threatened. Love you.
