Hello!
We made it to Avon! What a fun day!
We checked out of Telluride pretty early this morning and made our way to Ouray. What a fun town! Neither of us have ever been there, and it was a delightful little place. We really think we want to go back and stay in Ouray.. that would give us the opportunity to go into Telluride and Silverton mountain to snowboard. We had breakfast at this tiny little place called the "backstreet bistro." It had a HUGE menu, delicious food and fabulously enough we spent a total of $14.00... what a nice treat! ;-)
We went through Ouray and over to the Box Canyon area to watch some of the ice climbers. There are huge ice glaciers that were man and nature made, and they have giant ice climbing competitions up them every year. It was such a cool thing to see... Joey and I both agree, those poeple are crazy.
From Ouray we made the drive over to Palisade to pick up some wine. We called Joey's Brother Greg and found out that Glenn Foster (the semi-recent owner of St. Kathryn Cellars and The meadery) was there today! We went into St. K's and bought wine and then headed over to the Meadery... only to find out that Glenn was walking back over to St. K's.... so we backtracked and went back to the original spot to meet up with him :) He is such a wonderful man, it was so great to see him!! :)
We went back into St. K's and he was nice enough to give us a discount on two additional bottles of wine. Then we gave him a ride back over to the Meadery (where his offices are) and visited there for a little while. Then, he was nice enough to give us the *official* tour of how and where the wine is made in the back of the Meadery. So much fun.. and again, so kind of him! After tasting a little bit at the Meadery, we bought two more bottles of wine, gave lots of hugs and headed out!
That was such a great point in our day :-) We were so appreciative of the hospitality Glenn always shows us, and we can't wait to take my Grandparent's back to meet him! :) Grammy and Grandpy, we told him how long you have been visiting, and he cannot wait to meet you!
The drive from Palisade to Avon wasn't bad at all! We got here at about 6pm, checked in, had dinner and now are relaxing in our room. We plan on riding Beaver Creek tomorrow :-)
Believe it or not, it feels really good to be getting closer to home :)

Andrea

Mama Yay, yay on the wine tour and so glad you got to meet up with Glenn! Hope you told him your mother is in love with his Lavender wine!!! Hahahahah! I bet you guys are about ready to be home. That's a long vacation & everybody get homesick after awhile. I know I sure miss you guys & so does your piggy!!! Have fun boarding & can't wait to have you home!
Grandfather & Grandmother The pics of Ouray were nice to see, in the one of main street you can see the motel we stayed at when we were there several years ago, the Swiss Chalet. Great town, fantastic scenery! Fun in Palisade, glad you got to see Glenn, we look forward to going back with you and hopefully meeting him. The world famous Christie Lodge!! Not as elegant as some of your recent hotels, but fun anyway. As with all of our many trips over the years, we really had fun but the best part of all of them was coming home!! Have a great few days in Avon and get home. We miss you and love you.
