Hello!
Sorry for the late entry! I will update you on what I did in cairns. I arrived on the saturday night and had an early night at the hostel. Sunday I went on a day trip to Cape Tribulation. Wasnt the most exciting tour I have been on but it was a beautiful place, veary peaceful and stunning rainforests. i want for a river cruise on Daintree river to spot crocodiles, went on rainforest walks and had a swim in mossman gorge. On the way back we stopped for a look around port douglas - a lovely holiday town.
Monday was one of the best days ive had travelling. After three years og hearing about this tour from Tom I finally went on Uncle Brians tour. We had cousin Ky as the driver and gus the bus as transport ( we were only allowed to refere to him as gus, not bus, he had feelings and had his own life stories to tell). the day was hilarious, did not stop laughing at all. Nick and kat were with me on the tour as well. Fisrt we stopped at the boulders, just a lookout point then went on to josephine falls where there was a great rock slide to play on. So much fun. Next we drove for a while for lunch then on to Milla Milla Falls. This is the famous waterfall featured in the well known timotei advert where the lady flicks her hair back in the waterfall pool. It was absolutely stunning. the first waterfall I have been to where you can swim behind and underneath it - breathtaking! the water was refreshing so didnt stay for too long. went on to lake eachem, a volcanic pool. its huge and stunning, the water was allot warmer. we spotted tiny turtles then drove on to spot platypus, it took some patience but then we saw one and a water snake. the drive back was quite long but in no way during the day was the driving boring, there were games to place, stories to be told and constant laughing! A great experience.
Tuesday was just paradise! i went sailing on the great barrier reef, we stopped at green island which im going to say again is just paradise, exactly as you picture it to be! I went snorkelling and diving, the most beautiful fish ive ever seen and sharks as well. i was very luck as there were only 3 of us that wanted to dive so the instructor took the other two down first then took me on my own. He holds our hands and sorts all the apparatus for us so i didnt have to do anything, just enjoy it. He showed me so much and let me touch different things, it was amazing. I went for another dive in the afternoon as i moaned at him that i didnt see a sea turtle so we searched as far as we could, we were under the water for nearly an hour when it was only suppose to be a 20min dive, i was very lucky!!! We sailed back drinking champagne and had cheese and biscuits. It didnt stop when we got back to shore, we went for a drink with the crew. It ended up being a big night out though, but it was great fun. Nick was on the trip as well so we had a great laugh.
Wednesday was a relaxing day for me, i looked around cairns and sunbathed at the lagoon, very much needed!
