Hi everyone!
Sorry its taken me a little while to update the site, its been difficult getting to a computer in bbyron bay. I absolutely Love byron bay, its gorgeous!
So Wednesday I got on the oz experience bus and we had a ten hour journey up to mojo surf camp which is in awarrawa. the journey went quite quick actually as we played games and got to know everyone on the bus so it was a good laugh. There were 16 of us on the bus, Ive met a nice girl from london, some girls from lincolnshire and a guy from jersey. We arrived at the surf camp around 4 pm and went straight out into the waves for a surf lesson, it was fantastic as the instructors gave us some great tips! I was very pleased with myself as i managed to stand up quite alot, I even have pictures to prove it!! The surf camp is pretty much a caravan park which you can see from the photos, very isolated place which was nice. They cooked us dinner then we spent the evening sat on the beach under the stars and talked so was great to start getting to know people.
The next day we left about 9am to head up to Byron Bay, took about 4 hrs. I checked into a hostel called the holiday village and its very nice! Im staying in an apartment so have our own kitchen and lounge. That afternoon we just walked around byron to see what there was. In the evening we went to the local bar which is opposite the hostel and went for a free meal and a few drinks. wasnt too late a night as i was up the next morning at 5am to go watch the sunrise from the most easterly point in australia. Unfortunately it was raining and very cloudy so wasnt great but still beautiful to see the colours behind the clouds, the photos dont really show it well. We spent the rest of the day looking round the shops of byron as it just kept raining most of the day, not nice but we still had fun.
Saturday Morning was the best though, I went sea kayaking with Dolphines! WOW! that was just amazing, a dolphine actually swam under my kayak. It was a wonderful day and to see dolphines in the wild like that was just amazing. We had such a great laugh, unfortunately i dont have a waterproof camera so couldnt take pictures so you will just have to trust me that i looked good in my bikini with a bright yellow life jacket over, hehe. In the evening we went out to the beach hotel which has a live band and a lovely outdoor area so a great place to chill and drink.
Sunday started as a nice lie in but then i spent the rest of the day on the beach catching up on some sunbathing!!! it has to be done. Monday I went on an organised tour to Nimbin, with Jims alternative Tours. Nimbin is a hippy town, to be honest i didnt really like it and there wasnt much to see but it certainly was an experience to see what they do. Monday evening I had another free meal at the local bar and then i met Paul (dawns friend from nepal) for a little bit before bed,.
This morning I had a surf lesson which i won at the bar last week.It was excellent to surf here in byron as the waves are fantastic. As i have had a few lessons before the guy focused on giving me tips on how to turn and to stand by jumping straight up so i learnt quite allot which im pleased with. Will have to keep practicing now!!!!
While i have been here in byron i have booked my trips for the reast of the east coast, Im doing 4wd driving fraser island and im going sailing round the whitsundays at the great barrier reef. Im stopping everywhere inbetween as well. I should be in Cairns for the 24th March i expect.
Well i hope everyone is well! please keep me updated on whats going on with you all! Im going to surfers paradise tomorrow for one night then on to Brisbane for the weekend so ill try update when im in Brisbane.
Lots of Love to you all.
