Hi Everyone!
I think I have got myself some new hobbies, sailing and snorkelling!!! Had such a wonderful weekend and made some great friends! I was very lucky with the group on the boat, many were from england and around my age so we had lots in common - im sure there will be many reunions when back home!
So the first day we set sail around 1pm, had a nice gentle sail over to Coves cave where we had our first snoekell. I was a little bit worried as last time i snorkelled i found it scary but definately not this time!! I was just amazed by everything i saw. I took an underwater camera with me so i hope i captured some nice pics. the water was a little murky that day though but i was still just so amazed at how much you could see. Once back on the boat we were treated with a lovely cup of tea and biscuits then sailed on to where we stopped for the night at a place called Hook Passage. the entire journey we just saw amazing views and the water was so perfectly clear turquise blue. I loved it. The islands where alot bigger than I expected. That evening the crew cooked us a lovely meal and we stayed up drinking and chatting, all getting to know each other very well. We had a great laugh together and the stars from the sea were amazing to watch. I slept in the baugh of the boat (the very front corner bed).
Lovely early start at 6am on saturday, woke up to amazing views in beautiful sunshine. Definately felt very lucky to be there! The first stop that morning was at Whitehaven island, stopping at tongues bay. We walked up through the rainforest to the lookout point over all of whitehaven, its was gorgeous but the tide was in so couldnt see the sand dunes. We walked over to the other side of the island and spent a few hours on the beach, wlaking over to the rocks and swimming in the sea. I saw sting rays and reef sharks. Had to wear our stinger suits ofcourse which are very sexy!!!! Back on the boat we had lunch then had a lovely long sail over to maureens Cove. During the long sail many fell asleep on deck so alex and I decided to go talk to the crew and help drive the boat. I got to steer the wheel all the way into the cove and had to go round some rocks and we had to change direction of the sails so was very exciting!!!! At Maureens cove we had another snorkell and was 10 times better than the day before as the water was perfectly clear and there were such a wonderful variety of tropical coral and fish! absolutely amazing. Everything i looked at i just thought wow. I didnt want to leave. We were there for quite a while, i just couldnt get enough of the gorgeous fish, there were so many and the colours were so vibrant, i only hope they come out well on the camera. that night we slept at Stone haven.
the last day we just sailed back to the harbour for 11 am but we went really fast and the boat was completely tipped on its side - really great fun. I didnt take that many pics but i will get them from others on the group and try add them here. We met up in one of the bars in the eve to celebrate our trip, had a great night.
Next stop im going to Magnetic Island Tomorrow for two nights then staying with wayne, (Dads friend from spain i think) in townsvills for two nights before finishing in cairns for a few days.
Will try update later this week.
Lots of love to everyone
