Back to budget accomodation, we moved onto the island of Penang, we went from a four poster to bunk beds! On our first day we done a walking tour of the city seeing all the sights. We really liked the feel of the place, all the buildings were really nice and had a vintage feel to them. We found lots of street murals from the art festival which were pretty cool.
Penang is renowned for its food so we soon got in there and tested it from the hawkers stalls and other places that were recommended to us by locals. One night we went to a karaoke/ night food market, you sat on plastic tables and chairs that filled the middle with food stalls surrounding the outside and a karaoke stage. If you thought the singer was good enough you could buy her a sash! Surprisingly we didn't award any of them with one.
We then travelled across Malaysia to the perhentian islands. We stayed in a nice bungalow nestled in the hill with a 2metre monitor lizard as a neighbour. We spent most of our time on one of the two beaches playing with our new bat and ball, swimming and snorkelling in the crystal clear sea. It was a perfect way to spend 3 days before we travelled down to the next Island of kapas.
After taking a taxi, 2 buses and a boat we arrived on the beautiful island of kapas. We stayed on the beach in a longhouse. The owners were friendly and every night would play games on the beach before cooking up a dinner for everyone to sit down as a family and eat. We went on a jungle trek, cliff jumping, snorkelling (d*** saw a turtle) and visited the nearby smaller island where they look after baby turtles to set them free. One of our favourite islands so far.
