Ko Phangan and Ko Samui--
AAAhhh we can't be bothered to do this today so hope you appreciate this :) its boiling and i'm getting eaten by mozzies :( we've had a really enjoyable last few days...
After leaving Kanchanaburi we had to spend a night in a dingy hostel in chumpon before getting the boat to Phangan.... the boat journey was AWFUL!! An hour into it i (amy) watched a guy opposite me start throwing up into a plastic bag which made my stomach go... went outside for fresh air where there were a collection of people standing over the side of the boat chucking up which trigered me off :( :( lots of tears and sweating which led me to convince tom that he couldnt love me if he could put me through this... we had to stil stop at Ko Tao which i begged him to let us get off at but he refused :( for the best i later saw,, and then we made our last 2 hours to phangan. We decided to hire mopeds as this was so cheap (2 quid a day) and we found somewhere to stay by driving round. We found 'Coral Bungalows' which was laaaavly. for just 10 quid a night it had a pool, 3 beds in the room and a hot shower and air con and 2 fans :) really lovely place with lots of people :) We spend our few days in Phangan by the pool getting bronzed and spend an hour at the beach (to which tom moaned about the heat and sand) We also had the half moon party one evening which was in the jungle (pretty cool) but which in my opinion was a bit rubbish with trance/rave music, but tom enjoyed it probably cus he'd enjoyed a few tiger beers :) our night ended by looking after a very drunk girl (who's friends were convinced had been drugged) and escorting her back to her accomodation as her friends got left behind looking for their camera... then when we returned to our place we passed a girl laying down crying outside reception.. she'd been locked out and lost her key... so as the good samaritans we were we let her stay in the spare bed in our room :) she was an australian girl who gave us lots of tips about where to go in oz .
We spent a total of 4 nights in Ko Phangan and really enjoyed it there (couldnt be bothered to move on)
I was dreading the boat ride to Ko samui (the island underneath Phangan) and when 2 small boats turned up to take us i had a bit of a squinny as i knew the smaller the boat the more rough... however this turned out to be a blessing as the boat was a speed boat and only took 20 mins.. however tom and i choosing to sit at the back of the boat got completely SOAKED... kept our minds of feeling sick though :)
Arrived in Ko Samui and we had an idea of where we wanted to stay so took a taxi to the resort... however lovely taxi man took us to wrong place telling us it was 'just down the road' and after walking 15 minutes along the beach with our rucksacks we were told it was a mile away so had to get another taxi..
Very happy with our resort (samui beach resort) as we have a pool and it overlooks the beach which is beautiful. we are on our second day here and leave tomorow.
We visitied a waterfall today which oh my goodness was EXHAUSTING though tom loved it and had a swim... i was camera man :) On our walk back however we got very lost and ended up just walking down through the waterfall just across the rocks... Tom convinced me he had watched enough survivor and 'bear grills;' programmes to know what he was doing.. luckily we met 3 german people who were also lost so we followed them.. who eventually followed us :) after walking through lots of long grass,, red ants,, loads of rocks,,, lots of amy moaning and tom shouting .. 45 minutes later we finally arrived back on the track!!! VERY VERY SWEATY and the fact i'd needed a wee for the last 3 hours was not helped by the sound of constant running waterfalls. Tom had pointed out a shooting range he was interested in going to so we found this after and he enjoyed shooting a machine gun (this was his activity treat as i'd had the time playing with baby cubs) he shot a .22 machine gun (semi automatic). We were both so so tired after the walk so enjoyed sleeping and reading next to the pool.
There is an evening market down the road tonight which we might check out and we have just spent time looking at hotels for our next stop (phuket) we are treating ourselves a little in the next place and its a 4 1/2 star but has a 70 percent discount which includes breakfast so it works out only a little dearer than what we've been paying :) it is normally 3000 baht a night but we have got it for 880 a night. we hve to get picked up at 6:30 tomorow to get dropped at the boat pier and then take a boat to Don Sak and then a long bus drive across to Phuket,, we should arrive in Phuket at about 5.... fingers crossed the boat is smooth and there is air con on the bus :) :)
Missing you all lots and thinking of you every day.. we have some videos that we have not been able to upload but will keep trying,,
All our love , tom and amy xx :) xx
