SAT WAT DEE (HEWWWWOOO)
So, we had a smooth journey to Bangkok and were able to sleep a little on the plane. We found the person meeing us (after a while) and got a taxi to our hotel (too about 1 hour in busy bangkok traffic) We were impressed with our hotel and had guards on the door. it is probably the nicest hotel we've seen however the room is basic :)
we went for something to eat directly opposite as I (amy) was nervous to walk anywhere. I made the mistake of ordering a green curry which was SPIIIIICYYY. Tom stuck to his chicken sandwhich (wise choice) our meals plus drinks came to 200 T baht (approx 4 quid) Tom convinced me to go for a walk so we explored the hood and on our way got offered several tuk tuk journeys to a ping pong show!! (sue and dave this is not a table tennis show which you are probably thinking, google it if you dare) we kindly refused much to toms dissapointment :)
We found a fish spa which was one of the weirdest experiences we've ever had, the video shows that i couldnt bring myself to do it properly, surprisingly tom got our monies worth and was able to handle it. this only cost 300 t baht for both of us (3 quid each) returned to hotel for bed!
Day 2:
I woke up at 6:30 and couldnt get back to sleep,,, so after making a little noice to wake tom up we headed to breakfast. CURRY FOR BREAKFAST??? nasty. i stuck to coissants and tom had and english breakfast which looked like childrens plastic play food.... and tasted like it.
Took a tuk tuk to a temple (found a police station where we were advised only to take yellow tuk tuks and the white ones will take you on a long detour to try and get you to buy gems and stuff) for a round trip round the city for about an hour it only cost us 20 tbaht (40 p) though tom tipped him 20 tb which he was very pleased about.
Decided we should be proper backpackers and bought a pot noodle from 7 eleven (supernarket) for 13 t baht each.... never again. Went to the hotel pool to cool off which was nice.... the weather is gloomy looking but very very humid and sticky.... we constantly have sweaty belly buttons :) Went our for dinner to koh san road which is the famous busy road.. famous for tai lady boys and tourists.. however we only saw 3 lady boys.. much to toms dissapointment :( dinner was nice and we found a nice bar and had a drink.
We are both shocked at how safe it is here and it is not what we expected. There are lots of people trying to sell you stuff but they do not hassle you. the roads are one way and very narrow. there is lots to see.. and smell..
we leave bangkok tomorow and are going to get a train north to kanchanaburi ..... the train journey will cost us 2 quid each for a 3 hour journey. we were going to get a tour bus but have been advised against it as the cheap costs for this are scams. wish us luck as we do not know what to expect from a 3rd class train.
There should be internet access in kanchanaburi but if not the next you will hear from us will be ko phangan (after an overnight 12 hour journey by train)
Thinking of you all and love you lots x amy and tom x
