Ahh, Ko Phi Phi!
Crystal clear waters that mix into a deep blue, Perfect white sand with spectacular views! Phi Phi has most definitely been our favorite destination in Thailand and we really wish we had spent more time there. So getting there was abit of a mission! We started in railay (krabi) and needed to get a long tail boat from there which we needed to walk into the sea with our rucksacks on and climb aboard when we thought we had seen it all with the old wooden boat with a big rusty engine stuck on the end, it stopped in the middle of the sea where we met another boat which they insisted we climbed onto, the waves did not help the situation but we made it safe, was definitely an experience! Soon after that we arrived in Ko Phi Phi, as soon as you take in the heat from the sun you realize how amazing this place is. The new pier has been built since the tsunami and they charge you 20baht to get onto the island (A small price for paradise)! Which helps keep the waters clear from depree and rubbish still washing up shore from the tsunami.
We found a really nice place called cho koah bungalows, which was one of the cheapest on the island, at 850baht per night, it came with a pool and it was right on the sea front and the room was basic but was worth the money. Once we had settled in we headed straight out for something to eat, there we only a few quiet restaurants that we found which made us really confused as we saw so many people coming onto the island and it was packed when we arrived! Amy instantly loved the place due to its homely atmosphere and little shops scattered all over the place. What made this place really nice is that there were no cars or motorbikes on the island, just a few bicycles. So that day we just chilled out by the pool and mooched round the shops. We tried to go out abit later at night to see if it would get busier but it was still dead,a few families's and couples but no-where near the amount of people we saw hording onto the island. The next day we headed out on a snorkeling tour that was worth every penny it cost us 250Baht each (5 pounds), The day consisted of a trip to monkey island where we got to feed the monkeys and let them be mischievous. After that we headed to a bay inbtween two massive cliffs with clear white water that we got the chance to swim in, the water was really deep and really warm. Then we headed to another cove inbetween to cliffs but this time the water was abit darker blue and loads of fish and coral, we all jumped out with our snorkel gear on and this was a great experience which Amy loved.Tom preferred to just jump and dive of the boat numerous times. Once we thought it had all finished we headed into the middle of the ocean and ate fresh pineapple and watched the sunset which was peaceful and very tranquil.
We were knackered after the day trip and Tom fell asleep indoors (He likes his little siestas) So Amy decided to head out and explore the island, 2 hours later she arrived back with a few little purchases and a lot more knowledge of the island. She discovered that on the other side of the island was where the party was at. So instantly we got showered and got dolled up (Put some flips flops on and a pair of shorts) and headed there. This was defiantly where all the people went, it was packed. We went to a restaurant on the beach which was really nice we had a few drinks and had dinner, after a few more Singah's we headed to a bar that had Thai Boxing, this place was really packed and you got a free bucket if you had a fight. Tom really wanted to do it but Amy wouldn't let him (She knew he would lose).
The next day we did absolutely nothing, which was pretty much the same as we've been doing everyday! But that night, before we went for a meal, We went to a massage place, where Amy had a foot scrub and pedicure, somehow tom ended up having a foot massage to pass the time but that finished quickly and he ended up having a pedicure with his toe nails painted gloss. (So so sorry dad I'm not gay!!!) He didn't enjoy the massage because his leg hairs got ripped out which was painful and to make matters worse, After Amy told me that I got a foot massage and pedicure done by a lady boy but at least it was an experience, which will stay with me for the rest of my life =-(. We had dinner on the beach in a nice restraint too.
Our time in Phi Phi came to an end the next day, sadly, we really wish we had stayed there a lot longer but we thought we had a few more places to visit in Malaysia. So this was our last day in Thailand and it has been one of the most amazing experiences of both of our lives. All in all Phi Phi was our favourite island next to Ko Phangan then Phuket. The Thai people are really friendly and helpful we didn't have one bad experience and don't have one regret (Apart from leaving so soon).
We are heading south to Malaysia and we haven't planned a thing so we really don't know what to expect but looking forward to it.
Thanks for reading. love from Tom & Amy xxx
