Evening fam and friends :)
So, from bangkok we found a good deal on a taxi up to Kanchanaburi in the north with a very happy driver called leng (mr pongpeg) the journey took 3 hours and on the way we stopped at the tiger temple. we had to change into dark clothes and cover ourselves so as not to attract any bad attention from the tigers... and monks. Tiger temple was amazing and i payed extra to play wtth 6-8 week old baby cubs for 45 mins and then bottle feed them. Definitely worth the money. From here we travelled to our accomodation... a guesthouse i have wanted to stay in for a few months now, called pong phen. Quite a hippy feel to it and nice comfortable rooms...basic but cheap. 5 quid each a night. Next day we went on a group tour where we got picked up and taken to Erawan Waterfalls which is a 7 step waterfall... takes about 2 1/2 hours to walk to the top.. we made it to five. there was a natural made slide on one of the waterfalls which Tom gave me the courage to slide off.... lots of fish in the water which nibble your feet. gross.. but good for dry skin. we were absolutey exhausted after this trek as it was all uphill and on rocks... good workout.
After the waterfalls we were taken to the elephant park where we got taken on a trek as couples and then had the opportunity to control the elephants ourselves.. really cool and we both loved it... though i came up in a funny rash after sitting on the elephant. We then had a bamboo raft ride up the river and back which was very peaceful and relaxing. Following this we were taken to look at some famous bridge... much to tom and my dissapointment.. (definitly a trip for the oldies) the whole trip only cost us 20 quid each which included food and journey taking about 3 hours. Back to pong phen for the night as early start next day.
After 2 nights at pong phen we were up at 6 to be picked up and taken to the train station to travel south to Chumpon and then ferry to ko phangang which was ment to be an hour away but took 2 1/2. Train was comfortable and took 6 hours but we managed to sleep. Provided food as well (tom didnt look to impressed with the lump of suasage meet ontop of his) and they didnt give him any beer. Unfortunately we had missed the last ferry so had to get a tuk tuk to a cheap hostel which we found advertised at 150 baht a night (3 quid) but we upgraded to have our own bathroom and bed on a bed stand instead of matress on a floor so paid 250. .... Found a KFC much to our enjoyment as we both needed a little pick up after a long journey,, lack of sleep,,, and little domestic :) back to hostel bar which is where we are now... getting verociously eaten by mosquitos which tom is drinking his tiger beer and me a fruit shake.. we get picked up at 5.45 tomorow morning to be taken to the ferry port for a 3 hour journey to ko phangang.. We'l keep you updated with the next part of our adventure. xx much love xx
