im in the process of adding a few more photos...their connection isn´t very fast so it´s taking awhile.
the kids are very cute. the baby boy had surgery not too long ago to remove a huge cyst from his cheek. he´s always smiling and so is the little girl. hopefully i am able to post the video i took of her but i think its going to be too large. i have learned so many new words from her already and she´s FIVE! haha
we went to a supermarket, the same as in the states...it sorta reminded me of a superwalmart except smaller...they sold a mix of things. things are very cheap here...yogurts that cost a dollar in the states cost a quarter here, a thing of almonds or pistachios costs about a dollar fifty. really good bread is a couple dollars. i think it will be easy to budget here. plus, i´m eating less and eating more fruit, and fruit is cheap too. i bought a bunch of yogurt, tuna, mayo, bread, cereal, almonds, oranges, bananas, plums, peaches, bottled water all for $12 US dollars. (see dad, i won´t spend too much money, it will be ok!)
my host mom is super sweet. she´s extremely patient with her children. she´s a preschool teacher and her husband owns a couple restaurants, one in the city and one by the beach. they live extremely humble, in what we would consider a small apartment and they drive one car. they don´t seem very materialistic which is a nice break from our culture. both of the parents, Veronica and Pancho, speak English but only do so when they are teaching me a word i don´t know, other than that our conversations are totally in Spanish.
I´m very comfortable here and happy with the family that was chosen for me. i think it will be a great 4 months!! (sorry nothing is captialized, it´s a pain in the butt because the keyboard is different! )
Tomorrow i go through the process of getting my Student Visa finalized. Luckily we´re doing it as a group because it seems very confusing.
I´m going to try and post more photos now and a video.
Chao!!
