Liesbeth left the hostel this morning as she was treating herself to a night in a B+B with a spa so I just spent the morning lounging around reading. Edo was coming down to Byron Bay today so we'd arranged to meet at the hostel at 3pm.
When he got there we went for a walk around Byron bay and then ended up at a place called The Beach Hotel to have a couple of drinks. A guy was going round everyone selling raffle tickets so you could win a massive box of seafood... There was a whole crab, big massive prawns, oysters and other bits. We ended up with ticket 37 and were both blissfully in the delusion that we would win... We didn't!!!
So instead we went and stood by the bar as there was a band playing that sounded pretty good. It turned out it was some sort of Blondie marathon and they were singing all her songs; at this point Edo stated that Blondie was in fact Goldie Hawn, Erm, I corrected him!!!
Anyway, this place made me develop a whole new kind of love for Byron Bay; everyone was so laid back and when the band were playing, people were dancing like absolute crazies, it was as if I was at a flash mob and I didn't know what was going on because although their dancing was so crazy it still all fitted neatly together. Also, everyone has such a unique style of dress here, from secret assassin to a sixties hippy. They really are some damn cool people!!!
Me and Edo just stood people watching for quite a long time and then had to as we were meeting Liesbeth at an Italian restaurant next door. It was quite a posh place and I knew that it was going to be quite expensive... I had scallops to start, THE best steak ever for main and then we shared a bottle of red wine. It cost us $60 each, which isn't exactly a backpackers budget but god it was good food.
After, me and Edo went back to the beach hotel and there was now a DJ playing some electro music and everyone was now pogo-ing and dancing very strangely (i think some e's had been taken) haha.
Decided it was time to call it a night.
