Monday 2nd July
Well haven't we struck lucky, today dawned with the place humming and the car park below heaving. Rosa warned it might be Market Day. The whole town turned into a giant market place all along the avenue in front of the flat all as far as the other end of the main square, as well as all over the car park.
You could buy anything and everything and things you never knew existed, let alone things you never knew you needed. Stills to Ryanair legit hand baggage, lemon trees to wardrobes.
Defrosted the freezer and cobbled a chicken casserole together with the recognisable bits of galina( we binned the feet and gizzards). Whilst buying more Iranian peaches at our little veg shop, the lass in there explained that her husband had spotted us and that she lives in the apartment next door and knows Rosa. Small world. So it was her cooking those meaty things!
This afternoon we braved the traffic jam ,a combination of market traffic and mega roadworks on the new bridge, and went off exploring. Went out on the road to Braga but turned off to Vila Real and right up into the hills. Headed for the Parque Nacional da Peneda. Stunning scenery and the roads have to be seen to be believed. One word -EU.
Found an Intermarche:))) topped up as well as getting tea bags for Liz.
Chicken casserole more a veg stew with added calcium. I reckon we can fly home under our own propulsion.
All in all, a good day.
