Nights are very interesting affairs in our part of the cruiseship. After loading us up with plates of food, many of us happily submit to sleep. Notice the 'most'. It seems that all of those that do not like 'most's live in our part of the ship.
We have been going to bed early lately. Like real early. Like before 9pm. After all, we are up every morning at 6 or earlier, and spend most of the day actively. Therefor, sleep is a very welcomed event.
But then there are the others. As we found last night.
We followed our usual 9:00 bedtime, and fell asleep quickly. Then it hit 12:30. Cue the giddy teenagers. They stomped down our hall, laughing and yelling. A minor annoyance, and we managed to sleep again. Then it hit 2:30. And the woman started. You know those theatre performers who can project their voices across a room? Yeah, that was her. She was having a great conversation with some guy, and it was so loud it led me to believe she had her door open. After 10 minutes, I wanted to rip my hair. So instead, I decided to do something much more productive. I was going to go over there and tell her whats what. I must have looked simply terrifying, puffy face, bed head, and all. The culprit was next door, a young lady who sure enough was leaning against the door to prop it open. I was very polite, and informed her that there where people trying to sleep. She not-so-politely informed me that she was just ordering room service. Hon, I've been listening to your conversation for 15 minutes, and you have certainly deviated from the topic of room service. I wanted to choke her but I gave her my nicest middle-of-the-night smile an retreated to my room. She kept talking. We where up at 6am as usual, and I was sure to walk extra loud when I passed her door.
Then there was the rattling. It's the kind of mysterious unaccounted-for sound that makes you want to poke out your eyeballs. I still haven't managed to find the source of it.
Though despite these disturbances, it's all part of the adventure right? What's traveling without experiences to talk (more so rant) about later?
