Arriving on New Years Eve, we had little time to get the lay of the land. With the Christmas hangover only just faded, we opted for a 'grown up' NYE. Dinner was at a posh italian, with a shared pizza as a starter (the closest we could get to Strada!!) with steaks all round. Goodbye backpacker budget! The company and atmosphere were fantastic, but unfortunately let down by the second worst service of the trip - following the chicken incident! Its quite impressive to be able to serve starters faster than delivering wine to the table but they managed it!

A few bottles of red later (seriously, goodbye budget) we were ready to find somewhere to ring in the new year. We found a cute rooftop bar where we drank tequilla (goodbye grown up evening!) and watched the fireworks. Bit of a drunken bar crawl later, we ended the night drinking rum in the hostel and listening to the band Pete used to be in. Nearly famous folks!

Another delicate morning after, (and Steve skyping solo as I was still in bed!) we did what anyone does on new years day - didn't move very much and took comfort in food. Mmmm.... pizza....

I've always belived in the rule "start the year as you mean to continue". After much soul searching we decided on something which summed up what the next year would bring for us, and settled on VOLCANO BOARDING!!
