So no bloggage for a while sorry we have had a hectic schedule of intense Spanish lessons ( we now no that Spanish for woodpecker is Carpintero.....helpful) & excessive hammocking! Nothing takes the load off at he end of a tough four hour class like an afternoon snoze in the hammock! So we don't sound to smug, conditions have taken a slight turn for the worse. It is still very warm but rainy season is officially upon us, it has rained prety much constantly for the last two days & this has bought with it an increase in msquitoes. Well they are either mosquitoes or bats, hard to say but they are definitely some form of toothy winged beast! Things we have learnt in the last 2 weeks (apart form the woodpecker thing of course):
1 - Puerto Viejo is overun with puppies (so cute we want to bring them all home!)
2 - Monkeys are awesome! Saw a whole troop including mother & baby travelling through the jungle!
3 - Cucharachas hunt in pairs so beware! If you destroy one the second one appears far more powerful than you could possibly imagine!
4 - Costa Rica has Peanut butter but is confused by the concept of Marmite!
5 - There are a surprising amount of Dutch people here! Seriously, the school is riddled with them!
6 - Swimming in the evening during rainy season is amazing if a little precarious!
7 - Costa Ricas most common bird appears to be the lesser known grey & white waggley bum dancing beach bird (which loves reggae!), it reminds us of Sarah Sarah......hope you're reading! We're gonna try and get a video of it before we leave!
8 - Surprisingly, ants eat vegetarians!
Anyway, next on the agenda is a birthday BBQ tonight then a trip to a National park (more monkeys whoop whoop) tomorrow. After that getting a bus to Sixola & crossing the border into Panama & then a boat to the island paradise of Bocas del Toro. Should be cool & we will use our now fluent Spanish to get by! So woodpecker for dinner for the forseeable future, should be fun!
Hopefully everyone is well, hope to hear comments from you all.
Much love,
S & A x
