I left Ko Tao after a night in my expensive resort and a heavy night of clubbing with Christina and her mate Carl. I took the afternoon boat to Chumpon with my friends Ivan and Ronan. was really glad I travelled with them coz it passed the time so quick and we played a lot of cards.
We had a while to wait at Chumpon where we got some extremely spicey food from a street vendor which I couldn't eat more than a bite of-there were chillies the size of my fingers in it! Then we sat in a bar til the bus came.
The bus ride was pretty uncomfortable with very little leg room and I had a George Micheal look-a-like sleeping on my shoulder the whole way.
Eventually got to Bangkok at 4.30am and the boys knew exactly where to go so we sat in a restaurant for a few hours playing cards til it was a reasonable time to check in.
We stayed our first night at Rambutri hotel as reccommended by everyone and it was pretty good, air con, swimming pool and satellite tele. The lads took me on a walk around the Ko San road and on a river boat to the big MRK centre. The food court in one of these shooping centres was so huge, it has literally everything you could possibly want. The boys stuffed themselves, I think they had about 6 meals each. we met up with Emma and Chris who've travelled with Ivan before. They're a lot older than me but really nice people and so much fun.
We saw Pirates of the Carribbean together which was awesome but before the film is so bizarre when everyone stands up to pay respect to the Royal family..wouldn't get that at home.
In the evening we went to a few bars, had a 29baht kebab (thats under 50p), then on to a club that we were conned into going to by a tuk tuk driver.
I was so knackered by the end of the day but managed to get up fairly early to take advantage of the pool on the roof. Today we changed to a much cheaper guest house down the same road. My room is a bit of a cell but I'm not using it too much so its ok. Not sure when I'm flying back yet so I've got to hold on to those pennies.
Everyone I've spoken to has pulled a face at the mention of Bangkok but I'm enjoying it so much here, I think its got a really good buzz and there's loads to do. Am looking forward to seeing everyone at home but not really ready to end this quite yet!
