Alice's Travels
LAST DIARY ENTRY
Tommorrow is the very last day of my trip, I'm pretty sad to have to cut it short but when I think back to all the stuff I've done its no wonder the money has run out.
I've seen and done so so much in the short time I had and done things I never thought I'd have the opportunity to do, so no regrets and many happy memories!
BEST THINGS I'VE DONE ALONG THE WAY:
1) Skydiving has to be up there
2) Bungee jump -purely coz I never thought I would and I've never been so scared
3) Self drive trip on Fraser Island- I met some of the best people here, saw dingoes and had the most fun with my group
4) Whitewater rafting- I loved this, I could do it every day
5) Snorkelling in Asia- I did quite a few trips and can't pick out one but it was all great
BEST DAYS ON MY TRIP:
1) The Great Ocean Road trip-it was the longest day ever but going up in the helicopter really made it one to remember
2) Hiring the scooters in the Cook islands with the boys (see also: worst day)
3) The first day on board siska sailing the Whitsundays- the weather was perfect and it was stunning!
4) Dream World in Oz-ok its a bit sad but me and Fenn had loads of fun this day with a pub crawl in the evening.
5) Hiking the galcier- another long day but such a unique experience.
WORST THINGS ON THE TRIP:
There's not too many of these, but some things really stick in my memory:
1) My accident prone day, burning my leg, falling off my bike, smashing a plate and losing my camera- too many tears that day.
2) Miranda getting sick in Fiji- really gave me and jenny a fright
3) The day after Full Moon- need I say more, blurgh
4) Travelling over the border from malaysia- it was so hot and the journey took the whole day, and mark was ill.
5) Arriving in koh tao and not finding any accommodation- I was so tired and my backpack was killing, and i got ripped off.
BEST THINGS I'VE SEEN:
1) All the wateralls and lakes in New Zealand-and there were many of them
2) The view above Taupo as I skydived over it. Amazing.
3) Whitehaven beach in the Whitsundays- this was breathtaking and the sand couldn't have been whiter.
4) The Grand Palace in Bangkok- I loved this, it was beautiful.
5) seeing the Figian islands for the first time in the boat.
THINGS I'VE MISSED WHILST BEING AWAY:
1) My family and friends- obviously
2) Getting a good nights sleep without a dorm full of people
3) Topshop, oh and Boots
4) Having a wardrobe of clean clothes to choose from in the morning
5) My bathtowel- I hate that travel chamois leather!
6) Probably more than anything- Mum's cooking!
7) English TV-Aussie and asian TV is just a joke, as are the commercials in the Cook islands
THINGS I DEFINATELY HAVN'T MISSED:
1) Working-but obviously its worth it if your saving up for a trip I guess.
2) Routine- who wants to do the same thing everyday, no thanks
3) Being bored- I can't say I've been bored over the entire trip which beats being at home watching tele
4) Hair straighners- suprisingly I havn't wanted these once
WHAT I'LL TAKE AWAY WITH ME:
1) A whole set of new contacts, particularly Fenn, Jo, Christella, Rob, Vicki, Ash and many others that I wouldn't have met otherwise.
2) A confidence and indepence I didn't have before
3) The need to do a lot more travelling
4) Paul Robinson's autograph!
5) Very fond memories of every country, everthing I've done and everyone I've met.
6) A lot of debt, hehe
As a final comment, I've literally had the time of my life and I'm so happy I made the decision to go for it and didn't pack it all in when Miranda went home. Travelling alone has been an awesome and unforgettable experience, i can't imagine it any other way. I've learnt so much and I can't wait for my next adventure.
