hello,

I left Byron yesterday and made the long drive to Port Macquarie, half way beteen Byron and Sydney. I only stopped here to break up the journey but its actually really pretty. I had to check out today so I wandered to the harbour and into town. There is a large volume of pensioners knocking around and I've seen several bowls clubs so I guess its a retirement place but the water reminds me a lot of Poole Quay and its such a lovely sunny day I can't be negative about this place at all.

Best of all, the hostel where I stayed was so lovely. It was full of Europeans that didn't speak much English but the place was the cleanest and best set up hostel I've been to, and I've been to a lot. I think a note in the Lonely Planet is called for.

Next stop, Sydney. I get there about midnight after another long stint on the bus!!
