Yesterday was the most lord of the ringsy day yet. Me and Angela and a variety of add ons walked a fairly straight forward but long walk across lots off terrains from scree to forests. Some magnificent views and geologic awesomeness. Including Mt Doom from the movies (where Frodo had to get to to throw the ting in).
There were pumice stones which had flown kilometres from the recent eruption site. That was only 3 months ago apparently by the way so they had to redirect the old alpine crossing route. We also saw the place where Neil is off skiing later this year. Looks very cool... Gettit?! I'm now into my adventure mode so hopefully can burn off the extra food I keep eating because the food is pretty damn good. Everything is just good quality.
Big night last night where a large crew of us were out together and we had pre-drinks in our room with some historic drinking games. It was great to have Dave there as he was on the ball too with rules and whatnot. Face paints, dancing and sweaty dancing, what more could you want?
I miss Neil's tiki tour commentary. I don't enjoy Brent's facts half as much along the tannoy. Brent just told us we should be looking out for the volcano that exploded last year and 2 eagles flew around the bus. That was coooool! One of those moments you can't predict or recreate. Note to self Google mt ruapehu '96 ski season eruption which has awesome outage if skiers on the mountain. Finally for today, the photo is from Rotorua but was on the way to Toepaw so kinda counts... Taken at the overpriced weaving/egg boiling/kiwi place.
