On this 50 degree evening in Cork after a long four hours ontop of the four hours we spent yesterday of Euro Trip planning (we're done, but there are still some logistics like finding out what order to see all of our points of interests and the directions to get to and from those places...) We went in to the French Film Festival. The French Film festival is surprisingly a big deal here, and this was the 25th anniversary. All the posters and advertising was pink had umbrellas and was super playful and fun. Right up my alley! Even though I barely know any French other than taking it for two years in high school and I've never seen a French film. We arrive at the theatre, sit down and the person announces the movie in French (duh, right?) Holly and I looked at each other like, ohhhh there better be subtitles we just paid 10 Euro for this….
The movie, A Room in Town, began and fortunately there were subtitles… PHEW. It was also a full musical, there was full frontal nudity, a suicide, a murder, a drunken baroness and protests were just a few things we didn't see coming. Especially since the summary said it was a love story.
Speaking of love stories, the three of us also saw a the play, Jezabel, a few weeks ago at the Cork Opera House, another interesting plot about a couple that decides to have a threesome and then both of the women get pregnant. We sure do know how to pick 'em!
Cheers,
Al
