I keep forgetting that I came here for SCHOOL and not a VACATION. It's actually pretty easy to forget being in a place this magical- especially since my school is a castle built in the 1840s. My classes are about a twenty minute walk from my apartment and I don't think I can ever get sick of the walk to class, maybe that's why I keep forgetting I am here for studying.
The classes here are really different from Quinnipiac, but I think I like it. We have big lecture halls (with these long narrow tables that BARELY fit my computer and are slanted so looks like I won't be bringing coffee to class!) with multiple lecture professors and rarely any "busy work," just one HUGE assignment that counts for our entire grade not going to lie this is really intimidating for someone who makes connections with every professor in a class of twenty verses a class of fifty to one hundred students. We also do not meet nearly as often as I would in a class at Quinnipiac, we only meet one or two days a week for an hour, but have a lot of "independent" reading. We are given a long list of books of what we should read, but we don't have to read all of them, and have to guess which ones the professor wants us to read. It's a little confusing. I don't know what to read or when to read it. But I guess I'll eventually figure it out... Right?
So far I love all of my classes and they are all really interesting and are very relevant to life in Cork and the history here and in Ireland.
My class list:
Irish Folklore
Traditional Irish Music (for homework we have to go to pubs and listen to life music.)
Art in Ireland
History of Ireland
Hopefully I will be this excited come finals!
Cheers!
