Our first day in Hoi An was pretty basic and boring.
Ngoc took us for lunch at a restaurant called Banana Leaf. I thought this was a fitting place, since our tour name was Vietnam in a Banana Leaf.
We went walk about around Hoi An with Ngoc showing us where to go for dinner and the main areas we should go to. We visited a couple of tailors that he recomends to use. Yaly, and a second one the name I don't remember. Ngoc left us, telling us where the hotel was located before departing.
The 6 of us continued to walk around and explore the city and the shops. The girls did a little bit of bag shopping, which left me and the boys talking on the steps of most stores. I'm not a bag person, and I hadn't budgeted for shopping. I know I know, when in Hoi An, but there's nothing I need and I didn't want to accumulate more possessions unecessarily.
We head back to the hotel with plans of catching a tuk tuk to the beach, but I point out that we have a pool so we end up hanging out by that instead. First hotel with a pool. I have definitely missed this luxury! We have great fun taking a few selfies, and just hanging out together chatting, which I'm sure is what most of our days will involve for the rest of the trip.
Finally dinner time arrives and we walk around to find Green Mango, the restaurant Ngoc recommended. It was night time so lantern street was lit up and it was beautiful! Scott and Beth were taking a cute couples photo infront of some lanterns and we ended up being the centre of an asian photography spectacular. I assume they just like taking photos of everything and anything but it was a little bizarre.
Got a little lost but eventually Hannah asked for directions and we were pointed i the right direction. Green Mango is definitely on the pricey side but worth it for the food quality. I had a delicious Cau Lao de Mare, a seafood twist to a traditional dish. Although it ultimately was just like eating spaghetti carbanara. I hadn't really bought enough money to eat and enjoy at Green Mango, not realising how pricey it was going to be, so I opted to skip a drink tonight and felt so out of place and boring as a result. The food here is definitely amazing though and if you have the money to spend you should definitely go!!
