Sunday 18th March was the Sydney Habour Bridge's birthday, 75 years old!! For the first time since the opening of the bridge it was closed to cars and opened for people to walk over. All along the bridge there were people dressed up to celebrate the brisge and music was playing. We bumped into 2 old ladies crossing the bridge, one was 99 and had walked it 75 years ago and was walking it again today...pretty impressive eh!! At the other end of the bridge we got a well deserves ice cream and took a walk through the Rocks which is the oldest Quarter in Sydney.
The week ahead was fairly busy, we managed to get tickets to see Gina Yashere (english comidian) all the girls (us 3, laura and lucy) grabbed some dinner and a few drinks before hand before heading of to the show. Laughing through every minute of it i thought i was going to fall off my chair, worth every penny. After the show we hung a round in the bar for a bit, just long enough for Gina to come in, she let us take some photos and signed our tickets for us (im sure that'll sell well on ebay if i ever get too hard up for money)
Wednesday (21st March) was another busy day, we had tickets to see the Kaiser Cheifs in the evening which Lindsey had no idea about as it was a surprise for her birthday. Durning the day we took a ferry over to Toronga Zoo, the animals were amazing and we all got our picture taken with Koala's. Straight from the zoo we managed to convince Lin that we would go for dinner and didnt need to go home and get changed....she brought it...score!!! We sprung the surprise on her just after dinner...she loved it!!! We walked around the corner and waited in line to get in. Once we got to the front of the line we all got asked for ID......which everyone had....except Lucy....there was a mental dash in a cab back to Lucy and Laura's apartment to get her passport and make it back in time to not miss any of the concert.....it was touch and go but we did make it. The venue was fairly small so we had pretty good views and they totally rocked. At the end Alicia legged it donw to the front og the stage where the stage hands were handing out little bits and bobs, plectrums, play lists etc.....ive never seen her move so fast when they threw out a play list, she was practically fighting on the floor with 2 other girls...she got it in the end (thats my girl) all be it a bit torn and battered!!!
Thursday (22nd Mach) i had a days work back at InterfaceFLOR, the whole office was out at a conference and they just needed someone to answer the phones (in case they rang) and to let the post man in. The day actually ended up pretty well, i checked emails, made some phone calls, watched Borat the movie and generally relaxed while getting paid, cant grumble :) On the Friday Me, Lin, Lucy and Laura had booked to climb the Sydney Habour Bridge, we booked a night climb that would take around 3 or so hours to climb. The views from the top were amazing, the whole city was lit up and simply breath taking!!- Lucy had a classic blonde moment up there while looking out at the Opera House she stopped herself just in time before she said "where's the Bridge"?! With the weeked once again here we went for a regulation night in 3 Wise Monkeys.
Monday (26th March) we headed to Palm Beach, more famously known as Summer Bay (all you Home & Away fans know what im talking about!!) we caught the bus which took about 1hr and 45. We were so excited when we got there as we recognised everything, even the surf club was there!!! After realising that there was NOTHING else to Palm Beach we took some more photos and pitched up on the beach, not for long though as we were freezing, within the hr we were back on the bus heading back to Sydney.
In the time the girls were with us Lucy had booked to swim with sharks at Manly Ocean World, it was amzing to watch and even better to do (according to her). We headed off for the Blue Mountains the following day all excited to be having a holiday within a holiday. Blue Mountains were 2 hours north of Sydney so we got ourselves onto a train. Arriving in the Blue Mountains we dumped out bags and headed straight out for the sights. We saw the Three Sisters at the look out at Echo Point. There were lots of walking trails so we headed down one of them knowing that we could catch the Railway (steepest railway in the world) back to the top. We leisurely walked down, stopping at the sights to take pictures etc.....2/3 hours later we made it to the bottom, only to realise we had missed the last train back up.....but thinking logically we thought that there must be an exit somewhere so....we carried on walking for another 1/2 hr os so....there was no exit and it very quickly dawned on us the only was out was back the way we had come, back up the 1000 steps.....in the dark and it was freezing cold!! To add insult to injury Laura has asthma...and didnt have her inhaler with her......it was pretty hairy at stages. We did eventually make it out ok and was glad to see people....something we hadnt seen in hours!!!! We lived to tell the tale thank god!!! The next day we were brave enough to go back into the Blue Mountains and ride the Railway we never got to do yesterday, it was VERY steep but only took a few minutes to get back up to the top.....all the sights done we eventually headed home.
Friday night again and the girls last night, the day was spent at Bondi Beach in the glorious sunshine and durning the evening we went for dinner in China Town........Out of all the restaurants there we must have picked the worst one, the food was awful and we all felt pretty ill after it.......a nice farewell NOT!!! I'd rather eat the bugs from Thailand any day!! It was hard saying goodbye to them (again!!) and there was a few tears but it had been an awsome 3 weeks, totally jam packed with fun and the best surprise i could ask for...thanks girls!!!!
Durning the next few days we managed to go to the V Festival in Sydney (free tickets bagged by Alicia through her work!!) Saw Groove Armada, totally awsome, started to pack up all our stuff in the flat as we were moving on out of Sydney and up the East Coast....Yay!!!!!
