Hi All
Umm... Well where should I start, yesterday turned out to be rather an interesting day! The opening ceremony was good. You should be able to see many photos on this blog which I took from the opening ceremony! On all the sits in the 'Bird's Nest' was a bag which contained many things of which there is a photo so I will will have some momento's to bring home from the opening ceremony, including the official opening ceremony programme. I have also up loaded a video which I think is part of the lighting of the paralympic torch although where I was sat I could see the torch being lit as I was sat directly under where the torch was on the stadium, but for most of the opening ceremony I was in a good seat as I was high up in the stadium so could look down on everything.
It was not easy once I had got to the olympic green to get to the 'Bird's Nest' and I am not convinced that disability access has been throughly thought through as there were lots of steps/esculators which move faster than the ones in Britain so I opted for the stairs when I had the choice simply because it was to difficult to get on to the esculator.
I think that it is going to be an interesting time and extremely tiring as I was suppose to go and watch the heats of the swimming this morning but after the events of yesterday (which were rather overwhelming as it seems that disability is rather an alien concept to the chinese as I had many, many photos taken and lots of people just looked on and stared and at one point I just had this large circle of chinese people around, which was a little never racking! I was to tired and needed more sleep but I am going to go and watch the finals this evening!
Anyway, I think that this will do for now!
Regards
Zoe
