Hello!
ok so since i last posted i have travelled from sydney to the blue mountains, back to sydney and then to byron bay! hectic so i potentially have alot to write! here goes
we left our hostel for a day tour of the blue moutnains which was kind of like the great ocean road tour! the people on the bus were alright but no one really our age! some of the views were insane! just like the grampians. we saw the 3 sisters which are 3 rocks which stick out and charlie and i walked to a water fall. it was a bit of a rip off because we paid for the trip and then to do the main tour bit where you could go in some cable cars and go down to the some rain forests and see a water fall and stuff, you had to pay extra (which charlie and Ididnt have at the time) so we walked off on our own and tbh had a great time! we went to one part and saw a MASSIVE lizard. literally huge. it was like a log with legs, so didnt move very fast and just slowly crawled away as we stared at it! very cool! we then walked off and found a waterfall which we climbed. very good fun! no one else from our tour did that which made us pretty happy! we also saw loads of birds flying around and one which makes such a wierd noise. i dont know how to describe it but its like a plopping noise like when a stone enters still water, but with a high pitched wine before hand. very cool. i can hear one right now as i write this blog! we then walked out onto this terrace and stood on the edge of a humungous cliff! what was quite scary was there were burnt out cars at the bottom which people had obviously rolled off or driven off the cliff. very eerie. our guide also showed us a place where aborigines used to cook their meet and sharpen their tools! it was a small bowl carved out of the rock with other small notches in the rock where they sharpened their tools! very cool. on the way home we had a river cruise where we went right under the harbour bridge and got some awesome photos of the opera house! (our swedish friend from bali was very chuffed at how the opera house was swedish material and a finish or norwegian design? i could be wrong but he was happy about it!)
after this we headed back to enjoy our second last night in sydney. the next day we did absolutley nothing and just wandered around taking it in before we had to say good bye! we had booked an over night bus to byron bay. this was not too bad but was still not pleasant! air conditioning screwed up my throat! (no help to goon) but yer we arrived in byron bay at 10 the next morning. charlie has contacts in byron bay who we were hoping to stay with but we couldnt get in contact with them at first! charlie left a message but we decided to get a hostel for the first day. we checked into a hostel and one of the first people we saw was... kez... wierd. ( a friend from england) but it was cool!
byron bay is amazing! the beach is cool everything is laid back and its just a really chilled out surfy place. good fun! the next day we made contact with ray and jenny. the parents of charlies old opare. (not sure how to spell that) ray picked us up from our hostel at 8 in the morning and took us surfing! he took us to a little spot and i dont think ive ever caught that many waves before! it was just the 3 of us out there surfing at the most eastern point of australia and the first waves to touch australia too! to make things better. as we were surfing we could hear and see dolphins mucking around!!! we then went back to theirs and on the way got a pie. the pies out here are AMAZING. any one who is coming. get a pie. and i mean it! (the busiest take away food place late at night, and the one thats open the latest, is the bakery. so good!)
that night we went out to cheeky monkeys which is the standard back packers club place. good fun. dancing on tables and just mucking around! good laughs. the next day we went surfing again at about 8 in the morning. we went to a place called the pass and the waves were just rolling in! it was a bit more busy but i caught the best wave of my life! i was the furthest person out and i saw a massive wave coming in so i caught it and it broke, so i turned around the white water on the face of the wave. i was going along that when i turned back left then turned back right, i looked down and all i could see was a massive ray swimming beneath me! i then crouched down and just dragged my fingers along the wave as i went along it. all i can say is i had the biggest grin on my face after that one!
the rest of the time we have just been chilling on the beach but it rained yesterday and rained hard! i think we are going to stay here for a couple of weeks and do some work for ray and jenny so we can stay here! they are such nice people. ray is a local legend surfer and really knows what he's doing. very cool. very chilled out and just has a good time! jenny is absolutely lovely as well, very cool!
i also bought a skate board today from a second hand shop and charlie bought one too. so we are gonna learn to do that to! we've got time. it just means more the carry....
till next time!!!
