Zak and Mel's Excellent Adventure
Okay, well just to give you all an update on the past few weeks. Thredbo was awesome and just what we needed. It was so nice to be in a proper bed and have a room!!! Zak had great fun on the Cannonball Run course and ended up doing 72km of downhill riding in one day! Mel went up to the Mt Kosciosko Lookout (2000m up) - although she didn't have to walk all that way! Took the chairlift up and walked the rest! This is the highest mtn in Australia and so its a popular ski resort in the winter and in the summer wicked for mtn biking. Mel did the girlie stuff too, which was great to get a bit of pampering. So, after Thredbo we drove back to the coast on our last leg of Australia. We stayed in a gorgeous little town called Kiama for a couple of nights and then went to the Minnamurra Rainforest to do a walk before getting to Sydney about a week ago. We stayed back in Avalon with Zak's uncle and family and pretty much relaxed. Having driven about 11,000 km we were pleased to be in one place for a while!! Mel went to catch up with Dave, Shell and Tom (who she knows from London). There was a wicked swell at the beginning of the week, so we got to see some awesome waves! Some matching those we saw in Hawaii. Zak didn't go in then, but has been out a lot in the past few days and is looking really good on the board. Palm Beach is proving to be the favourite spot which is only up the road. So Mel said goodbye to Zak and Australia on Monday and has flown to NZ and Zak is staying on in Sydney - surfing and seeing his family. Mel's going on a tour of the North Island tomorrow for 10 days and then Zak will be coming out to meet Mel after Easter. Love to you all at home. Mel and Zak xxxxxxx
